The Canadian Museum of Nature is currently seeking applications from students who are seeking to commence a master’s program at a Canadian post-secondary institution to participate in its Scientific Training Program. The selected individual will be offered the opportunity to participate in the Program as a Research Assistantship for a two-year term commencing in or around September 2022 during which the Museum will support their undertaking a research project related to biodiversity or geodiversity in one of the disciplines of study at the Canadian Museum of Nature: botany, mineralogy, palaeobiology, or zoology, or in a field relevant to the museum’s archival collections. Proposed research is expected to be collections-based and may involve field work.
The Research Assistantship will undertake their master’s program under the advisement or co-advisement of a Canadian Museum of Nature Research and Collections professional. Applications from environmental historians and related fields are encouraged.
The Museum will provide the Research Assistantship a stipend of $17,500/year and a research budget of up to $5,000 per year to support their research program (e.g., lab costs, field work, conference participation).
