The American Review of Canadian Studies invites submissions for the journal’s biennial Thomas O. Enders Special Issue on Canada-U.S. Relations. Submissions from all disciplines and from interdisciplinary perspectives are welcome – including environmental history, energy history, environmental humanities, geography, environmental policy, diplomacy and international relations, etc. – but should, in some way, focus on this year’s theme: the role of environmental, energy, and/or natural resource issues in the bilateral relationship. Accepted articles will receive a $500 stipend following successful peer-review and publication.
The Enders Special Issue is named in honor of the former United States Ambassador to Canada (1976-81). Among the many interests Thomas Enders pursued during his distinguished career in foreign service was the promotion of Canadian Studies in his own country. The Enders Foundation, which he established, provides funding for the publication of this biennial special issue.
The American Review of Canadian Studies is the quarterly peer-reviewed scholarly journal for the Association for Canadian Studies in the United States and is published by Taylor and Francis. Although based in the United States, we welcome authors from the U.S., Canada, and around the world and publish in either French or English.
Submissions should be 15 to 25 double-spaced pages in length, including references, and can be submitted HERE. Manuscripts should be submitted using the Chicago Author-Date system, with in-text citations corresponding to an end-of-article reference list (as outlined in The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th ed., Chapters 14–15). Endnotes for explanations and for citing unusual source material can be used supplementally. Please visit this page for full instructions on submission requirements or see the “Instructions for Authors” page on the ARCS website for further details.
Expressions of interest are due by August 31, 2024. Submissions are due no later than February 28, 2025. For more information, and to submit expressions of interest, contact special issue guest editor Dr. Daniel Macfarlane at daniel.macfarlane@wmich.edu.
