Assistant Professor, Environmental History/Climate Justice

The Department of History and the Peace and Conflict Studies Program at the University of the Fraser Valley in the College of Arts invite applications for a tenure-track position in Environmental History/Climate Justice, with a specialization in the Global South. This is a fulltime cross-appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, commencing August 1, 2022. The University of the Fraser Valley, located 75 kilometres outside of Vancouver, British Columbia in the beautiful eastern Fraser Valley, is a fully accredited, post-secondary institution with a commitment to undergraduate teaching excellence.
The successful candidate will teach in both the History Department and Peace and Conflict Studies (PACS) Program, with workload allocated primarily in History. The successful candidate will offer introductory courses in environmental history, upper-level courses in their area of specialization and three courses per year in the PACS program. The ability to teach and mentor undergraduate students outside of research specializations will be expected. Evidence of scholarly achievement in research and writing as well as proof of undergraduate teaching excellence is required. Demonstrated experience in technology-supported teaching (e.g. hybrid, on-line, and computer-assisted learning) and the ability to engage students in technology enhanced learning is required. Experience working in the field is an asset. Candidates will be expected to initiate, support, and work on community-engaged teaching and learning initiatives in local, regional and/or national settings.
