Formation of the Canada History Collective | Collectif Histoire Canada

April 2025 marked the creation of the Canada History Collective | Collectif Histoire Canada, a pan-Canadian grouping of national, provincial and territorial historical societies.

At their April 14th meeting, the “Bridging the Gap,” pan-Canadian grouping of national, provincial and territorial historical societies decided to take the name of Canada History Collective | Collectif Histoire Canada, and to meet next November, in Montreal and in person – if they get funding – or virtually.

At their meeting on April 14, the fourteen member organizations of the Bridging the Gap initiative met with John Dichtl, President and CEO of the American Association for State and Local History (AASLH), to discuss the difficult state of history in the United States. A letter of support was sent and is available here.
