NiCHE Honoraria Policy

The Network in Canadian History and Environment has limited donor funds to provide honoraria to contributors each year in recognition of their work and contributions to the network. These funds are available to graduate students, precarious scholars, and any other contributors who are without adequate or consistent access to institutional financial compensation, assistance or support.

Process: Contributors are asked to self nominate and should speak to their editor about receiving honoraria. Editors can provide a link to a google form where contributors enter the information we need to process payment. Honoraria are distributed via e-transfer.

Funds are limited and will be distributed until they are exhausted. Individual contributors may only receive an honorarium once in a calendar year.

The executive board may annually adjust the honorarium amount and dispersion schedule depending on available funds.

Principles:

  • An honorarium is valued at $100 CAD per post.*
  • Individuals can apply for a maximum of 1 honorarium per year
  • For graduate students, precarious scholars, or those without adequate or consistent access to institutional financial compensation, assistance or support
  • For original blog post contributions

*We may be limited in our capacity to pay honoraria via international money transfers. Please consult with your editor if you have questions.
