Environmental Humanities Workshop: Call for Student Participants

In partnership with NiCHE, the Nexus Centre for Humanities and Social Sciences Research is hosting a workshop, “Environmental Humanities in the Public Realm,” May 10-11 at Memorial University of Newfoundland. The goal of the workshop is to explore ways to better assert the influence of the environmental humanities perspectives in the public policy process, and better disseminate environmental humanities content in the public realm (through podcasts, webcasts, blogs, social media, etc.).

The workshop includes a graduate student training day on May 9th, 2018 which will include discussions of readings, “how to” media workshops on podcasting and disseminating through social media, and “hands on” workshops on feminist environmental science and environmental writing. Participants will present a 3-5 minute “lightning talk” as a means to share their work with the broader audience. Students will also participate in the discussions of the general workshop on May 10-11.

Travel grants of up to $1300 are available to cover return travel to St. John’s and subsistence costs. Interested students should send a 250-300 summary of how their work is relevant to the workshop themes to John Sandlos (jsandlos@mun.ca) by March 21, 2018.
