From east to west, and in vast boreal reaches, the Canadian forest is commonly encountered, yet variously interpreted. It has been obstacle, resource, spiritual ground, sustainer of life, and more to Canadians across time and space.
Given its importance, the forest warrants concerted investigation across disciplines. Hence, the presence of this research cluster, which seeks to facilitate understanding of the place of the forest in Canada’s (environmental) history.
