The Department of History and Classics and the Canadian Mountain Studies Initiative at the University of Alberta, with support from the Eleanor Luxton Historical Foundation, are organizing a field trip to Banff National Park on October 12-14, 2012. It will be an opportunity for those studying western Canadian environments, Banff, the Rocky Mountains, or parks more generally to visit and learn more about the local and regional environment. It will also be an occasion to meet other students and faculty working in the field. The trip will consider broadly the interrelationships between three environments: the physical environment of the Rockies, the state-managed environment of a National Park, and the urban environments of the Banff and Canmore townsites.
