NiCHE (the Network in Canadian History & Environment) is very pleased to announce Professor Bonnie Devine’s keynote address on “Claims, Names, and Allegories”, on Wednesday, 31 May 2017, at 7.30 pm.  This keynote will launch the 2017 Canadian History of Environment Summer School (CHESS), dedicated to the theme of gender in the Indigenous landscapes of southern Ontario.  Professor Devine is the founding chair of the Indigenous visual culture programme at OCAD University.  The talk will take place at the Women’s Art Association of Canada (23 Prince Arthur Avenue, Toronto; near St. George Subway).  There will be a reception before the talk, starting at 6.30 pm.  All are invited to attend.  We ask that you RSVP to Prof. Jennifer Bonnell, bonnellj@yorku.ca, for catering purposes. This research is supported by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada.

La Nouvelle initiative canadienne en histoire de l’environnement (NiCHE) a le plaisir d’annoncer la présentation de la professeure Bonnie Devine, « Claims, Names, and Allegories. »  Cet événement donnera le coup d’envoi à l’édition 2017 de l’ « école d’été » (CHESS) de NiCHE, qui se concentre cette année sur le thème du genre dans les paysages autochtones du sud de l’Ontario.  La professeure Devine est la présidente fondatrice du programme sur la culture visuelle autochtone à l’Université OCAD à Toronto.  La séance aura lieu à la « Women’s Art Association of Canada » (23, avenue Prince Arthur, Toronto.  La station de métro la plus proche est la St. George).  Nous vous invitons à la présentation ainsi qu’à la réception qui précédera, à partir de 18h30, le mercredi 31 mai 2017.  Vous êtes prié-e de confirmer votre présence auprès de la professeure Jennifer Bonnell, bonnellj@yorku.ca, pour le service de restauration.  Cette recherche est financée par le Conseil de recherches en sciences humaines du Canada.
