A new year is upon us and it is time to gather around the warm glow of the internet to reflect upon stats of the year gone by.

The Network in Canadian History and Environment and its team of unstoppable volunteer executive board members and editors forged ahead in the second year of the global COVID-19 pandemic. We said good-bye to some longtime executive board members who completed their terms (Tina Adcock and Maude Flamand-Hubert) and welcomed three new members (Mica Jorgenson, Sara Spike, and Peter Stevens). Moreover, we received so much interest in volunteering for NiCHE, that we expanded our editorial team to include several new editors. All of this means that we should have an exciting year ahead.

2022 will have a lot to live up to given just how much we accomplished in 2021. In addition to our successful first ever fundraising campaign, we published outstanding scholarship on environmental history research in Canada and beyond last year. Here’s a snapshot by the numbers:

  • 238 blog posts (279,989 words)
  • 9 book reviews
  • 20 NiCHE Conversations video interviews
  • 2 Nature’s Past podcast episodes
  • 3 live stream events
  • 74 donors

Not bad.
