Reuben Martens is a PhD Fellow of the Research Foundation - Flanders with the Literary Studies Research Unit (English Literature) at KU Leuven, Belgium. His current work looks at contemporary narratives of energy futures and aims to trace how such narratives can either challenge standard petrocultural aesthetics and ideologies or unwillingly comply with them, and the way in which they reveal society's tense reliance on hydrocarbons.
