The conference is over. More than 600 members attended the annual meeting of the American Society of Environmental History in Washington D.C. this year. In addition to the usual networking and collegial engagement, the conference is a great way to take the temperature of the field and look for emerging themes and trends. I spent my final day focused on Canadian environmental history. There were three panels with predominantly Canadian content. I also attended a fascinating round table on teaching environmental history and sustainability.
