Andrew Watson is the primary investigator on the Assembling a City Project. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of History at the University of Saskatchewan. His research is focused on how material and energy flows have shaped the dynamics between social relations, economic activity, and environmental change in the past.
Josh MacFadyen is an Associate Professor and Canada Research Chair at the University of Prince Edward Island where he directs the GeoREACH Lab and teaches in the Applied Communication, Leadership & Culture Program in the Faculty of Arts. His research focuses on the history of biomass energy and agriculture


Abigail Fenton is an undergraduate student at the University of Prince Edward Island from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. She is currently working towards a Bachelor of Business Administration, with a specialization in Accounting/Finance. Her recent research work includes the Assembling A City Project, which focuses on the economic growth Toronto experienced during the 19th and 20th centuries. When not studying or working, Abigail enjoys snowboarding, photography, and playing hockey.
Kenzie Kosowan is an undergraduate student at the University of Saskatchewan’s College of Education. She works as a research assistant for Dr. Andrew Watson’s Assembling a City project. Her current research endeavors are focused on the movement of energy resources throughout Toronto and Ontario in the late nineteenth to early twentieth centuries.


Fabian Wegner is from Berlin, Germany, and is an undergraduate student double-majoring in Psychology and Applied Communication, Leadership and Culture at the University of Prince Edward Island. His work as a research assistant includes the Assembling a City Project. His current research endeavors focus on analyzing data on ships and their cargoes in Toronto from the late 19th to the early 20th century. In his free time, he likes snowboarding, scuba diving, and travelling.
Hannah Willness is an undergraduate student studying history at the University of Saskatchewan. Her research focuses on historical uses of GIS and decolonial history in Canada. Her work on the Assembling a City project includes GIS mapping of coal dealers and data transcription.
