This coming May, we’re running an annual program called “Science Outside the Lab” that takes place in both Ottawa and Montréal. It’s a week-long immersive bootcamp for graduate students and postdocs into the world of science policy, broadly defined.
Over the week, the small cohort will visit both Ottawa and Montréal for a series of conversations with everyone from policy advisors and chief scientists to museum curators and science writers. Students involved will build their personal networks in both cities, learn the basics of science policy inside & outside government, and get a chance to meet a rich interdisciplinary community of talented students from across Canada. The cohort often has a strong environmental & health policy lean, and is designed to include a diversity of disciplines (including humanities & social sciences), backgrounds, demographics, and locations across Canada.
All the program information can be found online at SOtLnorth.ca. Applications should be submitted by February 15th for full consideration.
