PearlAnn Reichwein
PearlAnn Reichwein is a Professor at the University of Alberta who specializes in mountain history and the Canadian West. Dr. Reichwein is the author of Climber's Paradise: Making Canada's Mountain Parks, 1906-1974, awarded a prestigious Clio Prize by the Canadian Historical Association. She co-authored Uplift: Visual Culture and the Banff School of Fine Arts with Karen Wall, and has published articles in the Canadian Historical Review and the International Journal of the History of Sport. She edited, with Pierre-Olaf Schut, the recent special issue on nature sport in the international journal Sport History Review. A member of the North American Society for Sport History, she has lectured at the Université Gustave Eiffel in Paris, taught master classes at the European Summer School of Canadian Studies at the University of Innsbruck, and presented at the Banff Centre Mountain Film and Book Festival. Reichwein hosts the Ski Like a Girl Podcast – available on Spotify – with her research team in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation. Season one of the history podcast features "A Century of Women Skiers in the Canadian West" and season two highlights "Canadian Olympians, Paralympians, and Women in Nordic Skiing."
