Marianne Hoffmeister-Castro
I am a multidisciplinary artist and Assistant Professor of Studio Foundations and Visual Studies at Grand Valley State University. My research poses a critical examination of the representation of nature and nonhuman animals in contemporary western world. I work with drawing, film/video, artist’s books, experimental writing, and research-based methodologies to bring attention to the ways nonhuman beings are depicted in visual culture and the complex spectrum of relationships we establish with them across diverse cultural domains. I live and work between Chile and the US.
