DEADLINE: 1 JANUARY 2020
The Manomin Project is now seeking poetry and art submissions about manomin (wild rice)! We are asking creators to submit original pieces that explore human and other-than-human relationships with manomin.
We are accepting creative works that fall into one of three categories: past, present, or future.
You may submit a previously unpublished poem or visual work in each category. However, it is only possible to win in one category. Priority will be given to previously unpublished Indigenous creators.
One poem and one visual work will be selected for each category. Each creator will receive $100.00 CAN for their “winning” piece.
In order to be considered, individuals must contextualize their work in 250 to 500 words. This text is to explain what the piece is intended to teach about manomin (past, present, or future).
Selected works will be featured on the Manomin Project’s social media pages on Instagram and Twitter (@manominproject). The winning works will have the opportunity to be published in an upcoming scholarly anthology on manomin.
