Judith Merrill
She first came to Prince Edward Island in 1971. A native of Pennsylvania, she spent two weeks with her Boston co-workers camping in a field in Gaspereaux. The following year, she and her partner began to make summer visits to the province, eventually deciding to move there permanently in 1974. They subsequently built a home, earned a living with a woodworking business, and raised three daughters. Merrill lives in Charlottetown where she now works as a massage therapist and yoga instructor.
