Wendy Ader-Jones
Wendy and husband Dennis lived in Westport, Connecticut, before selling their Volvo and Porsche in 1972, buying a Volkswagen van, and heading for Oregon. They never made it, and instead became proud owners of a 125-acre farm in Bellevue. Here they began operating an organic farm, complete with fifty beehives and the province's first organic strawberry u-pick. She remained on the farm until 1979. Today she works for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in Halifax.
