Rick and Carla Gibbs
The couple arrived on Prince Edward Island in 1975. The couple, together since 1969 when Rich, a native of New York City, met Carla while visiting Montreal, lived on an old farm in Hopefield. For ten years they maintained a subsistence lifestyle, keeping an assortment of animals and helping out the neighboring farmers with their harvests. In the mid-1980s, Rick began a career as a cameraman, while Carla went on to be a French teacher. The couple now lives in Montague.
