David Sobers
He was teaching philosophy at the University of Vermont when he and his wife visited PEI during his Christmas vacation in 1972. Enchanted by the Island's beauty, the couple moved to the community of Milo the following year. In time, David supplemented the family's subsistence farming operation by working as a piano tuner, and then selling pianos from their home. This was the genesis of the Sobers Music store that later opened in Summerside. He and his wife left Prince Edward Island in 1993 in search of a warmer climate, and now live in New Mexico.
