Learn a few rules of “sex” nomenclature and how to recognize if a plant is named after a male or female. Then, hear stories about some of the earliest and most known North American female botanists such as Kate Brandegee, Alice Eastwood and Lilia Leech, their plant discoveries and how they changed our understanding of the botanical world.

Linda Jennings is the Herbarium collection manager at the University of BC’s Beaty Biodiversity Centre.
