Nipissing University: New MA Program in Environmental History

A new M.A. program in History at Nipissing University offers opportunities for study in environmental history. Students can work with James Murton (whose research is in food and agriculture and the environmental history of settler colonialism) or Dean Bavington (managerial ecology, history of science, fishing) and take advantage of the facilities of the new Environmental History Research Lab and the Centre for Community Studies and Oral History. Nipissing's M.A. program concentrates on giving students a broad training in history, on preparation for doctoral study, and on providing the sort of personal experience not possible in larger programs. For more information write to jamesm@nipissingu.ca, deanba@nipissingu.ca, or go to http://www.nipissingu.ca/mahistory/.
