We are seeking a third presenter, as well as a chair and commentator, for a panel we are proposing for the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (SHAFR) 2010 conference. The theme of the conference is "Crossing Boundaries: Foreign Relations and Transborder Histories" and it will take place at Madison, Wisconsin. http://www.shafr.org/conferences/annual/2010-annual-meeting/shafr-2010-c...
I am a doctoral candidate in history at the University of Ottawa presenting on Can-Am negotiations over the St. Lawrence Seaway and Power Project (1948-1954), while Phil Van Huizen, a doctoral candidate in history at UBC will be presenting on environmental activists and the 1967-1984 Canadian-American Skagit River Controversy. While someone doing Canada-U.S. water relations history during the Cold War period would be an ideal fit as a presenter, we would also welcome anyone doing a general environmental/transborder relations topic. Regarding a chair and commentator, we are seeking anyone interested in North American environmental history.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Daniel Macfarlane at dmacf051@uottawa.ca.
