Two new books will be launched at the upcoming American Society for Environmental History (ASEH) conference in Portland.
Lecture
Learn a few rules of "sex" nomenclature and how to recognize if a plant is named after a male or female. Then, hear stories about some of the earliest and most known North American female botanists such as Kate Brandegee, Alice Eastwood and Lilia Leech, their plant discoveries and how they changed our understanding of the botanical world.

Alvin Lucier is an American composer of experimental music and sound installations. Since the mid-1960s, Lucier has been a pioneering force in music and sound art, whether working with a brainwave-activated percussion orchestra, traditional chamber ensembles or the migratory potential of recorded environments.
