Earlier this fall, Graeme Wynn and I convened the Burrard Environmental History Group, which aims to bring together environmental historians and historical geographers living in Greater Vancouver. The group fulfills a call that Graeme himself made in his column in ASEH’s fall 2017 newsletter, to “foster[] local and regional environmental history webs in our communities”[1] as a complement to national organizations. Together, we hope to provide a space for intellectual and social fellowship, and to consider ways that we might bring insights from environmental history to bear upon discussions occurring beyond the university.

Environmental historians or historical geographers living in Greater Vancouver, or who travel there regularly, are welcome to join the group’s mailing list and to attend our meetings. Please contact me if you’d like more information.
